Favorite Quote
I really enjoyed my second week of school. For my communication class we were assigned to pick a quote that is meaningful. It took me a long time to decide what quote I would choose, because there are so many that I like. The quote that I chose was a proverb, "Home is where the Heart is." I chose it because my home will always be the place for which I feel the deepest affection and where my family is, no matter where I am. I really enjoyed other quotes from my classmates, some of them stuck out, but mostly they were the "inspirational" quotes that tell us to never give up. By doing this assignment I was able to know a little more about my classmates and know what interests they have. We also had to discuss what major and career we plan to have by the time that we graduate. What I noticed was how there was an excessive amount of psychology majors and how there were a lot of classmates who are planning to become teachers in the future. Only three students are science or stem related field, which I found kind of alarming. I know that science and stem majors are not that popular among the student body, but that is okay, because everyone has different interests. I have heard of stem job shortages the demand of careers that will need science and math in the future, but is it really the truth or just a myth? I agree that we need more people in stem and math, but people who are not interested in those subjects should not be forced to work in a career that they dislike.

I've been enjoying school so far too and I agree that people shouldn't pressure themselves or be forced to pursue a career they don't want to do!
ReplyDeleteI am a bio major and I agree with you that students should pursue a career in which they think they are interested and want to do that.
